STL??? That's a hop skip and a jump from me. I didn't know Dave was going to be here again. I have seen him twice there! :) I'm a junky, but I'm seeing NKOTB this summer...that's my splurge!

Hey Amber,
This message may get long, but I wanted to tell you all that we did while in DC a few summers ago. We had a GREAT time and wanted to pack as much as we could into our days there. First, I'd say WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES and also, take advantage of the Metro!

Okay, here's what we did and saw:
Day One: Mount Vernon
Day Two: Pentagon tour, Arlington Cemetery, Marine Corps Memorial ("Iwo Jima" statue)
Day Three: US Capitol tour (arranged through our state Senator's office), National Museum of Natural History, National Archives
Day Four: Washington Monument, World War II Memorial, Jefferson Memorial
Day Five: National Cathedral, Air & Space Museum, Marine Barracks for marching band performance
Day Six: White House, Ford's Theatre, Old Town Trolley Tour: Lincoln Memorial, FDR Memorial, Vietnam & Korean War Memorials

After a week of so much activity, we decided to schedule a trolley tour on the last day to pick up some of the stops we had not seen yet. It was a nice way to end our trip, just riding and giving our feet a rest! You may have already researched this, but I believe that most of the museums close by 5 PM.
How cool that you will be there for the 4th of July! We were there the week before that. I hope you have a great time! Hope our itinerary helps you. One of our favorite things was the visit to the Marine Barracks. The tickets to the summer "concert" were free, but we had to get them in advance and we had to arrive early and stand in a long line. I'll do my best to help if you have any questions about anything we did!
